On Tuesday, NMU Captain Nathan Oystrick signed an amateur tryout contract with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL), an affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers. According to AHL rules at this time of year, teams cannot sign players to professional tryout contracts because it is past the March 13 roster cut-off. But Nathan will most likely sign a nice contract over the summer and get a try-out with the Thrashers for the 2006-07 season. All Wildcat fans will look forward to his NHL debut sometime in the near future.
